Rainbow Fish Homework

  • As part of our Topic “People in the Past & The Royals.” We are reading the following books by Julia Donaldson:-

    ·         ‘Zog, and ‘Zog and the Flying Doctors’ Here are the links to the stories on YouTube:

    ·         Listen to the stories with your child.

    ·         Ask your child questions about the story – what did they like about the story? What happened next? How did the Princess help Zog? What did the Princess want to be?

  • Encourage your child to mark make using paper and pens, shaving foam, cornflour and painting on outside on the floor and the walls using water.


  •  Encourage your child to name shapes in the environment, including 2D (circle, square, rectangle, triangle) and 3D shapes (sphere, cube, cyclinder)

  • When cooking encourage your child to help cut/share food into 2 groups.

  • Using number cards ask your child to find a certain amount of objects and match them to the correct number.

  • In sand create your own beach this can be in a tray with different shells or objects you have around the house and count the objects.

  • Building sandcastles- build sandcastles and count them and knock them down.


  •  Freeze water with different objects in this could be ducks or any objects you have at home and freeze them in the water, explore the ice with your child and feel the temperature.
  • Use a water spray with paint and water in and squirt the water onto paper and look at the marks and the colours.
  • In water this can be in the bath or in the sink place the animals in the water and use sponges to wash the animals and dry them, hanging the towels out to dry.
  • Discuss with your child the importance of staying safe near water.
  • Relating to the book “Someone Swallowed Stanley” encourage your child to think about the importance of putting rubbish in the bin and recycling.


  • Encourage your child to discuss the books they have shared at school, and the different activities they have completed.
  • Symbols will be sent home for you to use – please let us know which ones you require.
