Owl Babies Homework

  • Singing and listening to the rhymes – 5 little speckled frogs and 5 little ducks
  • Mark making in cornflour mixed with water, add some blue food colouring for the sea
  • Listening and attention – listen to water sounds/sea sounds/waterfalls


  • Make an ice lolly, allow the children to choose a colour or fruit to add to the water before freezing.
  • Look out for ducks, flowers, creatures as you go out for a walk, point them out, count them and notice the colours.
  • Using the terms up and down, forwards and backwards as you move along equipment outdoors or in the park


  • Plant some seeds and allow the children to add water to the pots to give them a drink
  • Use sponges in the bath for soaking up water and squeezing it out again
  • Go outdoors in the rain, splash in the puddles, add some washing liquid to the puddles and notice the bubbles


  • Explore ice and focus on the word ‘cold’
  • Wash some clothes in a bowl together, focus on the words ‘wet’ and ‘dry’
  • Sharing books and pictures, point and look at the objects, ‘where is…?’
