Jungle Book Homework

  • Reading - Follow our sensory story ‘The Queen’s Hat’ using the link  Or we will also be posting our version of the story on Dojo for you to follow.
  • You can create your own sensory resources to engage in the story and follow the hat being blown around such as:

- Create your own hat 

-Use a hand held fan for wind

- Have a tea party at Buckingham Palace

- Climb over something (Trafalgar Square Lion)

- Use toy animals to make a zoo space

- Use a train to represent the underground ·

  • Writing – Wrist movement activity ideas

Dough disco

-patting and knocking dough to music 

-Splatter painting

-Drumming using sticks


  • Number – We are looking at handling money. When you go shopping you could encourage your child to help ‘pay’ by passing the money in exchange the item.
  • You could also create your own ‘café at home, sit down and have a tea party and encourage your child to exchange money for a cake or biscuit. Please note that coins must always be used only under supervision.
  • Shapes – Make your own Queen, King, Prince or Princess crowns and jewellery using 2D shapes such as a square, circle and triangle. You could use cut out coloured card.


Design and Technology

  • Make your own royal jewellery using salt dough (recipe will be posted on dojo). Support your child to mould the dough using a range of tools (e.g. plastic knife) and their hands.
  • Science (materials) · Create your own castle using a range of materials such as wood and plastic 
  • Create your own cloak by using different textured materials and plastic gems and jewellery.


  • If your child has any ‘royal’ King and Queen style costumes you could engage in role play. You could also look at photos of our current Royal family.


  • Encourage your child to sign/ use symbols to request what they want / need – please see child’s class teacher if you need symbols for home. · Encourage your child to use the signs- MORE and HELP and I WANT… 
  • Choose a singing hands song to do at home and try to copy the signs. Focus on one or two to start off with and then repeat. This half term we are looking at the singing hands song/rhyme ‘There was a Princess long ago’ (follow the link below)
