Our topic this half term is ‘Out and about’ Ireland Class will be learning about the local environment.
Ireland class will be discovering all about the area they live in through books, photos and sensory activities. We will be using the text ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ as a creative resource to develop their love of reading. Intensive Interaction and Joint Autism sessions will be used to enhance their reading skills. Speaking and listening will be embedded in all learning throughout the day and enhanced through visits in the community and geography based sessions about different environments such as woods, parks and towns.
In Maths we will be developing our understanding of number, positional language and size. Ireland class will be counting, identifying and sequencing numbers and focusing on maths vocabulary such as ‘in’ and ‘out’ and ‘big’ and ‘small’.
Science will consist of sensory activities that include cooking, water play and discovering materials. To enable the children to fully engage with our outdoor learning sessions, please send in wellingtons and warm outdoor wear as we will be learning outdoors as much as we can.
As winter is now approaching please send a pair of wellington boots your child can keep at school. As well as a hat and gloves when necessary.
Please send social fund contribution (£6) into school as soon as possible to enable us to cook and provide daily snack.
If your child is absent please phone the school office as soon as possible.
If you have any messages for the teacher please put it in the Home/School diary.
A medical notification form needs to be filled out for medical appointments during school time please, so that your child’s attendance percentage is not affected.
P.E. will take place at least once a week; please send in your child’s P.E. kit at the beginning of the half term. We will send it home during the holidays.
Any further information about trips or additional activities will be sent home as and when they arise.

Home School Diaries
Your child has a home school diary for communication. You can expect a message from school at least 3 times a week, you are welcome to write to us as often as you chose. Messages from school will focus on academic work but if there is something specific you would like us to comment on, such as food eaten, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate this.
Thank you to those parents who have already signed up for this - we hope you are enjoying the insights into your child’s time at school. You can expect at least 1 photograph a week of your child in class as well as them receiving ‘Dojo Points’ daily. I will resend login details for those still wishing to sign up.
