Activity

 

  • Listen to water sounds around the home, engage in active listening.

     

  • Mark Make on different types of surfaces eg wet brushes Encourage ‘up’ and ‘down’ strokes ‘side to side’ and ‘round and round’.

     

  • Sing and sign the Songs: ‘Rain Rain Go Away’, ‘Incey Wincey Spider’, ‘I can Sing a rainbow’.

 

  • Investigate Capacity: Pour, Fill and Measure out spoonfuls then cupfuls of warm then cold liquids, count as you go.

  • Count splashes and drips when listening to water sounds.

  • Draw bubble shapes and place a button or bottle top on each one to encourage skills in 1-1 correspondence.

 

  • Design and make your own ‘Sensory Swamp’ using edible art items e.g Green Jelly, Broccoli, Lettuce, Ice Cubes, explore tastes textures and smells.

  • Go out in the rain, take an umbrella, splash in the puddles.

  • Visit a park with a stream or lake, throw in a pebble, or stick watch them float or sink.

  • Tiptoe like raindrops and do log rolls along the Floor like the waves on the sea.
