Our Topic this half term is “Our Town”.
· In English we will be listening to a range of stories linked to our topic. We will begin by
looking locally before exploring what make our town special. We will be creating class
books and writing class rules. We will also be taking part in regular reading sessions.
· In Maths we will be doing lots of counting, ordering and sorting numbers as well as
using numicon and other objects to practise our one to one correspondence. We will
also be exploring number placement. In shape, space and measure we will be
focussing on 2d shapes and their properties.
· In Science we will beginning to create our own scientific experiments as well as
exploring materials and their properties.
Every Thursday morning this half term, children will be taking part in a Cycle Derby
session. This aimed at improving children’s skills and proficiency.
Please send social fund contribution (£6) into school as soon as possible to enable us to continue cooking and provide daily snack.
We are aiming to enrich the curriculum through a variety of trips and will give you notice of these in advance.

Home / School Communication
Please see the attached family homework sheet for ideas on what you can do at home with your child. We are always encouraging independence in Australia class, so we are always encouraging our children to do as much as possible independently.
Home School Diaries
Your child has a home school diary for communication. You can expect a message from school at least 3 times a week, you are welcome to write to us as often as you chose. Messages from school will focus on academic work but if there is something specific you would like us to comment on, such as food eaten, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate this.
Thank you to those parents who have already signed up for this - we hope you are enjoying the insights into your child’s time at school. You can expect at least 1 photograph a week of your child in class as well as them receiving ‘Dojo Points’ daily. I will resend login details for those still wishing to sign up.
There is normally member of the class team available to speak to throughout the day, please phone the school office and ask for a member of staff from Brazil Class if you wish to speak to us.
