Class Overview

Topic Summary

Our topic this half term is ‘Where in the World are we?’ We will be learning about ourselves and the community in which we live.

In Maths we will be developing our understanding of number and learning about shape. France class will be counting, identifying numbers, singing about numbers and understanding that numbers represent quantity. We will be making shapes, building shapes and taking part in shape photo treasure hunts in the environment.

English sessions will focus on practicing their fine motor skills and developing their reading ability through exploring different books and using symbols to match and identify words and objects. Speaking and listening will be enhanced through visits in the community and geography based sessions about where we go to school and our local community.

In Science, France Class will be exploring materials through sensory activities that include cooking, experimenting with water and outdoor learning. To enable the children to fully engage with our outdoor learning sessions, please send in wellingtons and warm outdoor wear as we will be learning outdoors as much as we can. There will also be a letter sent home about Forest Schools which we will be taking part in on Tuesday afternoons this half term.

If you have any questions or require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the class team at any time.
