** Industrial Action **

Dear Parents/Carers,

Unison have informed Derby City Council that they intend to take further industrial action in the form of a week of full day strikes next week on Monday 27th February, Tuesday 28th February, Wednesday 1st March, Thursday 2nd March and Friday 3rd March 2017.  This is in relation to continued disputes relating to school support staff pay and conditions.

The leadership team and school staff continue to work tirelessly behind the scenes to come up with the most suitable arrangement to keep the school open where possible. Our intentions are to ensure that the impact on pupils and their families is minimal. Unfortunately on this occasion Governors and I have taken the decision to close the school for two days next week.  Please see the table below.

School’s decision

Mon 27th Feb

School will remain open as normal to all pupil

Tue 28th Feb

School will remain open as normal to all pupil

Wed 1st March

School will remain open as normal to all pupil

Thurs 2nd March

School will be CLOSED all day to all pupils

Fri 3rd March

School will be CLOSED all day to all pupils

I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and carers the importance of being proactive and giving your views and raising concerns via the following routes:

  • Contact Derby City Council – They are the employers of all school support staff and have overseen the process regarding the new pay and conditions. This is who unions are in dispute with.

Email: parentcarer.query@derby.gov.uk

Telephone: 01332 642575

  • Contact Unison – This is the union who are in dispute with Derby City Council about the new pay and conditions and are coordinating the strikes on behalf of their members

Email: unison@derby.gov.uk

Telephone: 01332 643216

I can only apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause families, but unfortunately this matter is out of the school’s control. I would like to thank you for your continued support and co-operation during this time.

Kind regards

Clive Lawrence
